Data quality

Where the data comes from and how it is checked.

We would rather tell you what we can and cannot guarantee than publish a marketing accuracy figure. Business data decays continuously, so the honest measure is how recently a record was confirmed and what we do when it is wrong.

Sources

Companies House
Registered names, numbers, incorporation dates, SIC codes, filing status and registered addresses.
Published business listings
Trading addresses, switchboard numbers and published business email addresses.
Business websites
Website presence, HTTPS status, last observed update and published contact routes.
Public review platforms
Whether a listing exists and its published rating and review volume.
Our own verification
Automated checks plus manual sampling on every order before release.

Checks applied before delivery

Format validation
Postcodes, phone numbers and email syntax are checked against UK formats.
Deliverability screening
Email fields are screened for invalid domains, catch-alls and known traps.
Duplicate removal
Records are de-duplicated on company number, then on name and postcode.
Dissolved company removal
Companies recorded as dissolved or in liquidation are excluded by default.
Sample review
A person reviews a sample of every order before the file is released.

Refresh cycles

  • Company registry fields are refreshed weekly.
  • Website and review signals are re-checked monthly.
  • Telephone and email fields are re-verified at the point of order, not from a stale cache.

If a record is wrong

Report incorrect records within 14 days of delivery, with the rows concerned. We credit or replace any record where a supplied field is materially wrong, such as a disconnected number or an email that hard-bounces. Where a business has simply closed since we verified it, the same policy applies.

What we do not claim

  • We do not claim a fixed accuracy percentage across every field and sector.
  • We do not supply personal consumer data or consented marketing lists.
  • We do not guarantee a named decision-maker for every record.
  • Volumes shown before ordering are indicative until the list is built.
